The Charlotte Venture Challenge (CVC) is accepting
applications for the competition until March 3rd (10:00 pm deadline). The
official kick-off is next Tuesday, February 18, with the first of a series of
learning Workshops.
The CVC is the Southeast’s largest startup competition, annually attracting over 100 startups that compete for investor attention and customer discovery by large corporate companies. There are also CASH prizes! The competition is open to University student innovators (30+ Universities in 2013) and regional startups.

The CVC finals will take place on May 1st in Charlotte, NC.
Finalists participate in an Innovation Driven Enterprise Showcase where
investors and potential customers (Fortune 500 Corporations) are pitted against
each other to choose the winner. The finals provide the start-ups with various
networking opportunities and feature panel discussions, speakers and an awards
reception.
Past corporate participants include corporate tech scouts, innovation executives, and venture development executives at Lowes Inc., Electrolux Inc., Wells Fargo Inc., Belk Inc., Duke Energy Inc., MasterCard Inc., Husqvarna Inc., Ingersoll Rand Inc., SPX Inc., Bank of America Inc., Microsoft Inc., Flextronics Inc., Midrex Inc., Areva Inc., Carolina Healthcare Systems, and many others.
Past investor groups include Grotech Ventures, Idea Fund Partners, Noro-Moseley Partners, Sunbridge Partners, T2VC, Hatteras Venture Partners, 8 Rivers Capital, Upstate Angels, IMAF West, Blue Ridge Angel Network, NJ Angels, 460 Angels, Wilmington Angel Network, IMAF Charlotte, IMAF Cape Fear, Virginia Angel Network, Angel Capital Group, Piedmont Angel Network, Family offices group and many others.
Key Dates: February 18, 2014: There is an Orientation Workshop for all teams being hosted by Ventureprise and being held in the new PORTAL building on UNC Charlotte Campus. This workshop is not mandatory to enter the competition, but offers an excellent introduction to all things related to this year’s Charlotte Venture Challenge.
