bioMASON Selected as Finalist in the Postcode Lottery Green Challenge

bioMASON has been selected as a finalist in the Postcode Lottery Green Challenge with this year’s focus on the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.  There are 5 finalists competing for 500,000 Euros who will pitch to an expert jury led by Richard Branson on Sept 16th in Amsterdam.

"We are very honored to be chosen from over 300 global applications for this opportunity", says
Ginger Dosier, bioMASON CEO. "An estimated 1.23 trillion bricks are manufactured every year, resulting in approximately 800 million tons of carbon emissions, due to the fossil fuels required in the firing process.  We formed bioMASON because we believe there is a better solution for reducing Co2 emissions generated by global masonry manufacturing. bioMASON employs bacteria to "grow" a durable cement in ambient temperatures between loose grains of aggregate; producing building materials without emitting greenhouse gases, and without the depletion of non-renewable resources.”

The entrant with the best idea will win EUR 500,000 to execute his or her business plan within the next two years. Another EUR 200,000 is available to be divided among one or two of the other finalists.

The Postcode Lottery Green Challenge is a contest that rewards inventions that successfully combine sustainability, entrepreneurship and creativity. The jury looks for products and services that contribute to an eco-friendly lifestyle, directly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and score highly on convenience, quality and design.

The Postcode Lottery Green Challenge is designed to promote the invention of great new green products and services. "Climate change presents a pressing challenge. The world needs help embracing a new, greener lifestyle, and one bright idea can make a big difference. With ideas like these, the whole world wins," according to the Post Code Lottery Green Challenge site.
