Mr. Buzogany (Barry)
has served as a C-level operations and legal executive (CEO/COO/CLO) for the
past thirty years and more recently as a professional board member, management
consultant, and mentor. He has enriched the achievements of executive teams and
boards of directors in both publicly and privately held pharmaceutical, life
sciences, medical technology, and contract research organizations ranging in
size from start-ups to multinationals.
He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for PillGuard Medication Delivery Systems, a medical device company, and is a member of the board of T3D Therapeutics, Inc., an early stage drug development company. He recently completed a six-year term as a director at Easter Seals/UCP of NC and VA, a not-for-profit with a $90m annual budget (served on the Executive, Audit and Governance Committees). Mr. Buzogany is a Senior Associate for Shepherd Research, Inc., a science and management consulting firm for life sciences, IT and other data-driven companies. He is a volunteer mentor and adviser to several start-up companies through the Council for Entrepreneurial Development’s formal mentorship program.
Previously, Mr. Buzogany served as the President and CEO of Jenken Biosciences, Inc., an early stage specialty pharmaceutical company dedicated to the discovery and development of repurposed drugs for the treatment of organ damage associated with inflammation. Prior to that, he served as COO, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary for Icoria, Inc. (formerly Paradigm Genetics, Inc.), a publicly traded biotechnology company focused on the discovery and validation of genes, targets and biomarkers for the discovery and development of drugs, diagnostics, and novel agrichemicals. In addition he has served on senior management teams at Gene Logic, Inc., Centocor, Inc., Boehringer Mannheim Pharmaceuticals Corp., Novo Laboratories, Inc. (now Novozymes), and Battelle Memorial Institute.
Mr. Buzogany received his BA from Bowling Green State University, his MA in International Relations from the University of Southern California, and his JD from the University of Akron College of Law. He is an active member of the Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) and the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD). Mr. Buzogany has been a speaker at national conferences on corporate ethics, technology transfer, and strategic development and marketing collaborations.
