Company Description
Impulsonic is a startup out of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It was founded in early 2011. Impulsonic develops high performance and accurate acoustics simulation algorithms for architects and acoustical consultants by leveraging high-performance computer graphics techniques and latest research in acoustics simulation. Impulsonic also develops intuitive audio content creation tools for sound designers to create physics-based sound effects for movies, video games, and live theater performances. Impulsonic is a fast growing technology startup and has received SBIR/STTR grants, has won an NC IDEA grant, and has been selected to be a part of the Blackstone Entrepreneurs Network, UNC Launchpad, and Groundwork Labs within the past two years.

Job Description

Impulsonic is developing a suite of audio content creation tools for video game developers and other professionals. This involves building plugins for game engines and design software that build upon existing high-performance acoustic simulation libraries developed at Impulsonic. The role of .NET Programmer will involve taking these libraries (which are written using C++) and interfacing them with the Unity game engine using C# and .NET technologies. The job will also involve creating simple user interfaces for these plugins using Unity’s .NET API.

Impulsonic is also developing acoustic tools for architects. The .NET Programmer role will also involve interfacing Impulsonic’s simulation libraries with architectural design tools such as AutoCAD or Autodesk Revit, using C# and .NET technologies.

Responsibilities


  • Use C# to build plugins for the Unity game engine and Autodesk Revit.
  • Connect these plugins to Impulsonic’s acoustic simulation libraries.
  • Build simple user interfaces for the plugins.
  • Work with the rest of the team to refine product specifications.
  • Prepare documentation for the plugins.
  • Prepare demos of the plugins to show to clients and at trade shows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or post-graduate degree in Computer Science or other engineering discipline.
  • 2+ years of programming experience in the industry.
  • Familiarity with C# and .NET programming is a must.
  • Familiarity with C++ programming is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the Unity game engine is preferred, but not required.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Revit is a plus, but not required.
  • Familiarity with .NET Interop technologies (such as P/Invoke) is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, team-based environment.
  • Desire to work and succeed in a fast-paced, fun, and intense startup environment.

Location: Chapel Hill, NC
