Companies in the Blackstone Entrepreneurs Network Receive $5.5M+ in Funding in Q3



Great news came from Blackstone Entrepreneurs Network (BEN) yesterday. During the third quarter of 2013, six of their companies received a total of $5,501,000 in funding. Two of those companies, e-Nicotine Technology and Novocor, closed two deals worth $4,761,000 during the quarter. Other funding sources included angel investors, competition awards, grants, and an SBIR loan. Three of the six startups are from Chapel Hill, and three from Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina. Five companies are Triangle-based.

In addition to e-Nicotine Technology, Inc. (eNT), creator of the eNT electronic clean nicotine inhaler, and Novocor Medical Systems, maker of the hypothermia device HypoCore, were social health startup Sqord, online nurse advisory company Keona Health, mobile communication company Gema Touch, and Augment Medical, a wireless communication platform for disabled patients.
