Citi invests in Durham-based SJF Ventures

As noted in this Triangle Business Journal article, Durham-based SJF Ventures, an active CED Member,reports an investment by Citi marks the first close of its new $75 million investment fund.

One of the country's leading enviromentally friendly investors, SJF Ventures was founded twelve years ago by David Kirkpatrick and Rick Defieux. Its first fund was $17 million; its second came in at $28 million. From those first two funds came investments in 34 companies, ranging from waste recyclers to organic pizza makers.
In a Securities and Exchange Commission filing on its third fund share offering, SJF says, to date, its has raised nearly $29 million from 35 investors and has more than $36 million left to be sold.
