Wake Forest, N.C. – November 7, 2013 – The Wireless Research Center of North Carolina (WRCNC) has, as of November 1, 2014, been certified as a CTIA Authorized Test Lab (CATL) for mobile station radiated performance testing. Wireless devices on all nationwide cellular networks are required to be tested by a CATL using the CTIA's over-the-air (OTA) test procedure in order to receive a certification. As the only CATL in North Carolina, the WRCNC is able to enhance its support of local and regional businesses developing wireless products.
“Receiving CTIA certification increases the Wireless Research Center’s testing capabilities and provide a strong marketing tool for economic development in our region,” says Dr. Gerard Hayes, CEO and President of the WRCNC. “We look forward to having a stronger presence in all levels of government and always look for ways to empower wireless technology users, from home security to mobile devices, in and around North Carolina.”
The WRCNC anticipates a significant increase in the number of tests performed in their world-renowned Satimo SG64, the most accurate way to test standalone antennas and those integrated within a myriad of wireless devices and appliances. The organization also offers electrostatic discharge (ESD) testing as well as anechoic for radio frequency (RF) tests and acoustic chambers for additional services all within their facility in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
According to wireless industry leader Telit Wireless Solutions Inc. the region was in need of a facility that could provide these services. “The Wireless Research Center of North Carolina has been a tremendous asset to our wireless community since its inception in 2011,” said Mike Ueland, Senior Vice-President & General Manager Telit Wireless Solutions. Now that the Center has become officially CTIA certified for Over-the-Air testing, the Center’s value to our community is irreplaceable.
